| | | | The Followers of Jesus as taking our place. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com . The Followers of Jesus as taking our place has to do with being on the move into God's creative future. It has to do with looking back at the way of Jesus and in re-viewing that life, we are given a glimpse of what is in our future. But we do not simply wait for something off in the distance to arrive here. It is arriving and we are invited to be a part of the arrival. Therefore, in an unjust society we are already taking part in the promise of God's future Reign in which acts of justice and calls for justice become us. The Followers of Jesus as taking our place is a real and everyday as putting the promises of the future Reign to life. It is as though those promises and that vision of hope are no longer left out there in a time and place beyond us. No, we take our place within that life even now. We therefore put forth a life that may be strange because of how we live and it may be strange because of the life we will not endorse. Our 'yes' and our 'no' both carry us along the way of Jesus into the place of promise an all hopefulness. O God of love and new life, remind us that we are really being invited to live within the promise of life that is not yet fully at hand. Grant us wisdom and courage to be a part of its coming. Amen. |
