Redeemer Devotions for November 26, 2014

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as an invitation for NOW. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as an invitation for NOW comes to life among us as thanksgiving. For NOW is a gift and it is a bountiful time in which we are given the opportunity to be more human than we may ever have been. When I say we can be more human, I mean that in the sense that we can be more fully the image of God and live within the fullness of that image. Remember that being made in the image of God brings with it a life of joy and creativity and compassion and endless moments to see God's Reign unfold among us. The Reign of God as an invitation for NOW keeps us present. Yes, there is a future out there that keeps knocking on our door, but for now we are the image of God for the world around us. Wow. This does not bring a list of things we need to do. That is a deadly way to look at the day. Rather, we are invited into a unfolding painting to which the world turns to see what is possible even when the day is overwhelmed with a cloud of impossibilities. The Reign of God as an invitations for NOW leans into life and is not oppressed by the powers around us that try to say we cannot be such people dressed up in the image of God.

O God of love and new life, guide us into the ever-expanding glory of your Reign and the life offered to us.  Amen.
