Redeemer Devotions for December 1, 2014

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as abiding. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as abiding reminds us that right in the middle of all that may be able to consume us today - there is the Reign of God. As bad as life looks - with all of its violence - with the injustice - with the confusion about who is right and who is wrong, the Reign of God abides. Our crazy actions do no cause this Reign to vanish. Our hatred of one another and our biases and bigotry do not cause this Reign to move out of town. No, the Reign of God as abiding is the assurance that no matter how we act we cannot may this Reign move away. We do the moving. We take off and visit other ways to live. We abandon the vision and set our eyes on other things. And yet, the Reign o God as abiding rests and invites us to come and rest within new life that is always present - at hand.

O God of love and new life, remain with us and one day our eyes may open to see you at hand waiting to lead us into life eternal.  Amen.
