The Reign of God as abiding. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com . The Reign of God as abiding is a contrary word in the middle of a day when there seems to be nothing that is leading to new life. Some days are like that. Some days seem to lack movement. Some days seem to bring us nothing more than the nothing more that we thought came to a end as we fell asleep last night. Some days seem to be filled with confusion, frustration, fear, and anxiety - again. The Reign of God as abiding does not deny any of that reality around us. And yet, in the middle of all of this the Reign of God as abiding adds a simple word that may just offer a bit of light. I find it to be the simple notion of and then. That is the pattern of the stories throughout Scripture. The day - the world - the lie of a couple seems to be at an end - and then. Abiding with us is our God who will provide us with another way to view the day at hand and the ability to wonder about change and new life. That bit of wonder is enough to help us step into it all - no matter what the say seems to be doing to us. O God of love and new life, what will become our next move? We await your Spirit's presence and dynamic touch. Amen. |
