Redeemer Devotions for December 9, 2014

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as on the road again. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as on the road again is how the church moves through time. We do not stay put - we expand - we leave 'home' and experience that which is not us. Take a look at the Gospels or the Book of Acts. Folks are on the road. The outcome of those journeys are not sure - but those folks go for it. Jesus is on the road again and again. The Reign of God as on the road again takes place because the roads are there and there are always places to go and people to encounter. This road trip is not to build an name or build a constituency or a following. This road trip is the life of the Reign of God. As we are on the road again, we are entering the fullness of life we do not have when we stay put and stay with ourselves. The Reign of God as on the road again will always bring us home as new people who have been shaped by all the relationship we entered as we were on the road. It may be that home then becomes all the places and people on the road.

O God of love and new life, somehow we need to be inspired to get out on the road and meet up with the rest of your beloved people. Pull us into a road trip. Amen.
