Redeemer Devotions for December 2, 2014

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as abiding. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as abiding is part of that wonder-filled promise in which we are always being drawn into the eternal presence of the fullness of God. Eternal presence is that which is already upon us and that which is to come. It is a life that reflects the grand peace of the world - the cosmos - the beyond. The Reign of God as abiding has a power for new life that abides with us during the times from which we want to run and the times in which we are greeted with the wholeness of our humanity that is shaped in the image of God's love. The Reign of God as abiding opens us up to how this moment in time is another part of the unfolding of the creativity of God. We do not know what it brings and yet we are told of the character of life that does abide in the middle of that creativity. This abiding is time seen as a gift. We are not sure of that which will unfold before us yet we keep unfolding - wandering - wondering - hoping - living.

O God of love and new life, like an artist in the midst of painting, we have an image of what is to be in our mind and yet we must work it out from our imagination onto the canvas. Give us patience and help us be playful in our creativity as you abide with us.  Amen.
