The Reign of God as on the road again is the reality of people who are sent out into the world to embody the character of life that makes up this Reign. For too long it appeared as though we were sent in order to tell people about the character of God's Reign in Christ, Jesus. It was like a sales pitch - do you like it - don't you want to be a part of it - here's how you get in. And yet, we are sent to make the character of God's Reign as visible and available in our lives as it was with Jesus. The Reign of God as on the road puts action to all the words that are so often used in the church. The words become life and they become life as we are out there - down the road - along the way - encountering the world around us as ones open to whatever may happen in this day. When we take this life on the road we can never be sure what will take place. It is my bet that the world will change and so will we. O God of love and new life, nurture in us the courage to move out into this day within the blessed character of your Reign. Amen. |
