Redeemer Devotions for November 1, 2013

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

This week: God as "O My God".  If you have any comments  - adebelak@redeemerluth.com.

God as "O my God" is the Creating God who claims us and call us all the Saints of God. That - is an outrageous reality. It is whipped up by our God and we each are a part of the unfolding of God's Reign - O my God. God as "O my God" moves right in and does not wait for us to act. We are already called the Beloved - we are already the sons and daughters of God - we are already invited to share in the life that comes when one is counted among the saints of God. God as "O my God" becomes the recognition we make when we realize what God is making of us and what God will make of us. It is the unbelievable adventure of ordinary people who are given a name that is able to transform the ordinary into the sacred wonder of God's Reigning love. All we can do is say, "O my God." Within this grand adventure we learn to see others as the saints their are in God's  sight and that - that - is the power to change us and the life around us. Imagine - they too are chosen and beloved - wow - that seems impossible. And yet, we often think that about ourselves. When our God creates the day at hand, it is created as God sees it - amazing grace.

O God of love and new life, take us up as your saints and hold us as we walk off into this day shaped by the love that grabs us. And when we encounter other saints - even the ones we try to demonize - let your love show. Amen.
