Redeemer Devotions for Janurary 2, 2015

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as darkness. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as darkness is present even as we stumble into a new year with great ideas of how we will change or how we will change the world. Sometimes that which we will become is something that comes to us through the dark days of our lives. Therefore, it is right and good to consider even those days as days that are blessed with new life. Right there in that darkness we do not expect that the plans of our lives will turn out as we had wished. Instead, we may become lost and wander for a long time. The Reign of God as darkness is there - for the long haul - for the days of broken plans - for the days of unfulfilled promises. For out of such times as these, this God of ours keep working at the potter's wheel shaping us and then firing us and then adding glazes that bring us new color - new depth - new ways of imagining life. So when those days of darkness appear all around you, wait and rest and be ready for the next step. In the meantime, remember that we are always being shaped into a work of God's hands - always precious - always beloved.

O God of love and new life, keep our hearts filled with your promises as we stroll into and through the days of this year.  Amen.
