Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Followers of Jesus as persevering. If you have any comments  - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Followers of Jesus as persevering is the ongoing adventure of God's Reign coming among us. We are engaged in a life into which our God is pulling us by the power of the Holy Spirit. That being the case, it is too often that we do not want to be pulled - we want to go another direction. Faithfulness is good for a while - but always - yikes.  I'm not one who likes to feel the swat of failure or disappointment or rejection. Then I wonder about the stories of Jesus. Day after day he continued to be the incarnation of the life of the Reign of God. We don't hear of 'down' days. I think that is because those who followed him were simply amazed at how he was able to persevere on this holy walk through life. The Follower of Jesus as persevering are invited into that long history of God calling us to trust God alone and live within the domain of God's love that radically transforms our humanity. As we read through the Scriptures, it is quite evident that it is the character of our God to persevere and that character trait become a part of Jesus and now we are also handed this identity that really does impact the day.

O God of love and new life, once again we take a new day worth of steps within your unfolding Reign of peace. Keep us moving within your ways.    Amen.
