The Followers of Jesus as stepping into it takes us from a verbal profession of faith into a living confession of faith. That is, putting to life our trust in this Jesus, as the Lord of Life. The Followers of Jesus as stepping into it simply take the Good News of the Reign of God in Christ, Jesus, to heart and then into our lives - our daily steps among God's beloved people in every place and time. We all know some of the basic steps. We have read the stories of the steps Jesus took in his life - steps taken at great risk and cost - steps that helped embody how humanity can live within the loving Reign of God in a world that does not want to go there. The Followers of Jesus as stepping into it now are empowered to take those same steps using our feet and our lives to make sure the world around us will see a living witness of God's love and grace and mercy making its way to places as real as the day that will unfold before us today. O God of love and new life, when we sing 'just a closer walk with thee,' it is a plea. It is the life that we know brings life to the world. Fill us with that life - that love. Amen. |
