Redeemer Devotions for March 6, 2015

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Followers of Jesus as a movement. If you have any comments  - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Followers of Jesus as a movement is like watching someone practice a martial art like Tai Chi. Each move is precise and purposeful. The strange stances and position and the focus is something expected of the beginner and the master. It may look like there is nothing to the movements. That's right. They can be done by anyone. The discipline does not demand great flexibility or mobility. It demands discipline. It demands that the person follow the movements. It may be more of a mental obstacle than a physical one. So how do you begin to enter into the movement of Jesus? I do not expect that to be a hypothetical question to begin a discussion. I am really wondering how the movement will manifest itself within the hours approaching me right now. In the next moments - hours. In the fun of the day and during the disruptions of the day. The Followers of Jesus as a movement are simply invited to move - to live - to embody the graciousness of the one we say we follow. The movements will vary among us but the world will see a common discipline.

O God of love and new life, we long to be within the movement of your eternal Reign as it keeps coming into the life of the world. Amen.
