The Followers of Jesus as a movement. If you have any comments adebelak@redeemerluth.com . The Followers of Jesus as a movement calls forth action. We will be a people who move - who follow. We will not stay put in the way things are. It was stunning to see all the people in Moscow marching in memory of Russian opposition leader Boris Nemtsov. There was movement there. In Russia it is not at all safe to be in the opposition. In the US, we simply get ridiculed. In Russia, it can mean the end of life. The Followers of Jesus as a movement take the way of Jesus into the walkways of our days. It is a movement in opposition to the prevailing values of our day - even the ones we hold so close and dear to us. It is a movement that is willing to say "no" to the ways of a brutal world in which people are ignored - people are rejected - people are used for the benefit of others. The Followers of Jesus as a movement always live within the holy wonder of Jesus alive among us and what will that move us to be. O God of love and new life, help us walk with Jesus into his Reign as it is poured down upon us today. Amen. |
