Redeemer Devotions for March 5, 2015

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Followers of Jesus as a movement. If you have any comments  - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Followers of Jesus as a movement grows as people see that the way of Jesus is a life that changes the patterns of everyday life. The Followers of Jesus become a witness to the life of Jesus now available among us and the people who take note of this life now available through us become witnesses to this new life. It can be a never-ending movement - an uncontrollable movement. For what if an act of kindness you take on is witnessed by someone who is not the benefactor of that act? What if that person you do not see or encounter is moved to enter into that same life of kindness? That could be the beginning of a movement. On another level, what if you were asked why you acted as you did? Would it be okay with you to simply say, "I am a follower of Jesus and I think this is a bit of what that means"? All of the sudden, all the religious language that is usually thrown around and misunderstood becomes the simple act of a Jesus-like life in you - an ongoing movement within the Reign of God.

O God of love and new life, let it begin here and now and be the shape of life eternal. Amen.
