Redeemer Devotions for June 10, 2014

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as 'all y'all'. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as 'all y'all' presses me to remember you - even if you are the one I want to forget. That act of forgetfulness cannot happen in the Reign of God. In that place and time we are always finding that in the life of the 'other' is life we have yet to experience and life blessed in a way we have not yet seen. The Reign of God as 'all y'all' introduces us to the limitlessness of God's glory and God's image. Though we may have our limits and are willing to state those as though that is as far as we can go, the Reign of God keeps inviting us more deeply into the fullness of God's creativity. When our God is seen as eternally creative - as God is - then we must be ready to find out what else is available to us as part of the expanding nature of life within God's Reign. It will certainly be more than what I let myself experience and it will certainly bring into my life a fullness of life I may have previously rejected or even been afraid to engage as part of God's rule. The Reign of God as 'all y'all' will send us beyond the boundaries and barriers we so readily put in place to keep the world as we want it - even when it is contrary to God's Reign.

O God of love and new life, be with us as we uncover the brilliance of your loving Reign whenever we look beyond our own lives and enter into those others who are not at all a part of the world we have tried to create for ourselves.    Amen.
