Redeemer Devotions for June 6, 2014

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as at hand. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as at hand is meant to be a comfort to us. In the face of whatever might be going on around us, the Reign of God is at hand. But where is it - how do we enter it - when do we see it unfolding. Maybe it begins in our hearts - deep down at the very center of who we are - a light that enables us to see another way to live. The comfort is not magic. The comfort is what takes place in the middle of that which is not at all comfortable. The Reign of God as at hand may take us more deeply into that which is troubling. For the Reign of God cannot be overcome by the troubles of life that attempt to rule how we think and how we act. The Reign of God as at hand has a hold of us even when we are at the end of our rope - even when we cut the rope and seem to be giving up on God's presence. The Reign of God as at hand does not go along with our thinking - our vision - our control. Instead, God is present - an abiding presence that helps us view life again - even when we have lost all hope. This God never loses hope - the Lord of all Hopefulness is eternally at hand.

O God of love and new life, abide with us as you have promised.   Amen.
