Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as power to overcome. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as power to overcome is the power to make us consider just might happen when we live and speak and act within the newness of life that is always at hand. When the Reign of God is the power to overcome we have to make the choice to step up and face the world with the nonviolence, mercy, love, justice, and peace that is always promised within this Reign. It is a power - a true power. We are not left on our own. We are not being called to be "brave heart" warriors who overcome others by the violence of overcoming others. No. We are given the power to consider how one overcomes when one is living in God's Reign. We must consider that. We must stop for a moment - whatever length that is - and then step up into a place we may have previously stay back from entering. That simple act of considering is the beginning - it is the hope - it makes this Reigning presence of God real - as real as our own lives - eternally peaceable.

O God of love and new life, help in keep in the mind the way of Jesus' life within your Reign so that the moment at hand holds a new world for us also   Amen.
