Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as capricious extravagance. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as capricious extravagance is enough to take our breath away. And then, we are filled with new breath - the creative breath that brings new life that really does not reflect the life of our culture - society - domination system. So when we breathe this day - remember what it is the wind God is whipping around us for the life of us. It is a life in which the life of God's peaceable Reign is ready to make us a part of its sweetness - its beauty - its never ending embrace. The Reign of God as capricious extravagance is the character of the day into which we have been invited - and yes, today is that day. Even though we know there is a tomorrow, this Reign is always about today - now - those with us and around us. Because we know about the creative goodness of our God and the promise of life to come, we walk into this day with a support system that holds us from the beginning of time to the end. The whole story is inviting us to take part - let go of that onto which we clutch so desperately and grab hold and take part in the ride of our lives. Whew - capricious extravagance.

O God of love and new life, keep us breathing the joy of your Reign, O God.  Amen.
