By Redeemer Lutheran on Aug 10, 2015 05:50 am The Followers of Jesus as left behind. Comments to: adebelak@redeemerluth.com The Followers of Jesus as left behind is the statement of all of Scripture. We are left in our places. We are left in the middle of the joys and sorrows of the world. We are left behind within the eternal embrace of our God who never abandons us and is always coming to be with us - Emmanuel. I deliberately use the words left behind as a way to refute that long fictional string of novels that attempts to sell the horrors of an end time. Those books have no claim on being biblical except for the fact that they abuse Scripture for some kind of story line they have been trying to sell to fear-filled people in order to manipulate them. We are not going to fly off to another place - a heavenly place while other (the losers) are left behind. The Followers of Jesus as left behind act in the fashion of our Lord, Jesus. We daily enter into the vision of God's peaceable Reign even as the reigning powers of the world continue their violence and lies. We do not retreat. We follow the way of Jesus - always nonviolently - always full of grace - always truthful no matter what the consequences. We are left behind in solidarity with all those who are left out and forgotten for our God never leaves anyone behind. O God of New Life and All Hopefulness, take us along for the ride of our lives as we continue to find your glory shining through this day. Amen. Read in browser » Recent Articles:
