Redeemer Devotions for May 7, 2013

This week: God as lively. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com [mailto:adebelak@redeemerluth.com]God as lively brings the expectation that at any time and in any place we may experience

the invitation to be a part of this lively life. God as lively pulls us into a existence

in which we become a people who do not sit back and watch. We enter in - we question

- we doubt - we wholeheartedly jump in - we argue - we call for clarification -

we add our 2 cents - we respectfully become a part of the whole. God as lively is

the God who hangs from the cross to let us know that God will hang around with us

no matter what may come of this day. It is often that willingness to hang around

that gets folks killed, martyred, betrayed and accused falsely. That must be why

it is so easy to pull back and not be engaged with others. There is always a risk

that stuff will happen. God as lively - lets it all happen - grace knows no 'approved'

or 'acceptable' manner of going forward with truthfulness and hopefulness and mercy

- and all that good stuff. God goes for it and enlivens our lives with new ways

to be a part of the fullness of our blessed humanity.

O God of love and new life, bring us into a foot-stomping, hand-clapping, and saint-celebrating

day and let the world have a look at real presence - up close. Amen.
