Redeemer Devotions for December 10, 2013

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

This week: God as an encouraging hand. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

God as an encouraging hand is always available. There can be many things that make us move backwards or try to escape from that is in front of us. It happens all the time. The stuff we encounter during the day can be a force that restricts life. Therefore we pull back or don't take the next step or don't even bother to try something outside of the safe boxes we tend to occupy for life. God as an encouraging hand helps to lift us up to at least see what may be possible when we stop trying to control our lives. God as an encouraging is present because this God knows we can be timid or we can simply settle for what we know or we have a routine that is all we want out of life. God as an encouraging hand reaches in and promises something more even when we cannot see that something more.

O God of love and new life, we often think we know all that there can be for us. Therefore we stay put and hold on to all the stuff we can control. But you, O God, take hold of us and offer to take us into new life. Be the encouragement that is needed to move with you.  Amen.
