This week: God as "on site". If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com. God as 'on site' is the reminder to consider the wonder-filled adventure of prayer. Prayer is - in such a case as this - trusting in the real presence of God even as there is no evidence that God is 'on site' and ready to act with and for us. This is not to say that prayer counts on a God 'on site' to get things done for us. Rather, God as 'on site' reminds us that our prayer are about real life taking shape in the way the acts of God would take shape. Prayer reminds us of the power to be courageously loving as God's people have been encouraged to live through out all time. God as 'on site' is a reminder that God has never left and gone someplace else. No, God is 'on site' and we are always being nudged to come to grips with that. To enter into prayer is to be people who have come to grips with that and now we wonder how we will be gripped by our God to live into our prayers as though God is 'on site' coaching - leading - inspiring - and allowing us to go for it all. O God of love and new life, we trust that you are ever-present - here and now. Therefore we ask again to be shaped by your presence. Amen. |
