Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

This week: God as imagining life. If you have any comments  - adebelak@redeemerluth.com.

It is not easy to imagine life beyond the rules and limits and directions that are given to us again and again. It is as though we are channeled into a path that is ruled by all the powers around us. And yet, God as imagining life keeps knocking on our door - our hearts. It is quite amazing how long it takes to take hold of the life we have been promised rather than the life we seem to be living - or the life in which we seem to be dying. God as imaging life is the power that reminds us again that death and its many cohorts really cannot control us. Once in a while we hear stories of individual and groups of people who live as though they have no regard for the power of death. When that happens we are amazed and find it unbelievable. And yet, that is the life we are invited to imagine - the life into which we imagine ourselves and the life into which we step. Yes, we will take hits from the world for leaning into the promises of God and yet there is always more room to lean into those promises - even if death tries to deny us that adventure.

O God of love and new life, as we lean toward your loving Reign, reach in and give us a pull for we long to be alive in you.  Amen.
