This week: God as moving toward life. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com . God as moving toward life changes how we look at today. When we pray for the sick we are praying for the life that comes together when people are sick around us: the feeding - the care-taking - the encouragement. Yes, someone is sick but the community acts with an abundance of life in order to meet the power of disease and sickness. God as moving toward life anticipates the creativity of our God that will take place among us. There will be life. I may be different from the life we now have - but it will be life. God as moving toward life is the movement of the whole community - the whole body. It is the life of the resurrected Jesus coming alive among us so that we might take part in that precious gift - eternal life. God as moving toward life knows that death is around us and yet this God walks with us - God does a Psalm 23 with us. That is the dance of God moving toward death. It says, "Oh death you are at hand. Well, we are going to sit down and enjoy a meal - have a seat because we will not be moved by you." O God of love and new life, help us to rest in you and face the day with the life your promise. Amen. |
