This week: God as moving toward life. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com . God as moving toward life may put us into a situation in which we would rather flee. Sounds odd - I know. And yet, if we are used to the ways of death and the limits put on us and others, we may find that a life that is beyond our understanding and experience may be one from which we will turn and go another direction. God as moving toward life may invite us to leave that which we love so dearly. Now, we must remember that the things we love so dearly are not always the things (or the people) that bring us into an abundance of life. Therefore, God as moving toward life can be a power we avoid in order to pursue our own lives as we want them. We all know that the lives we long to have and to hold can turn out to be less than the fullness of life God promises to hand us. God as moving toward life will continue to hold out a hand to guide us even when we keep batting it away. O God of love and new life, it is so hard to let go of our ways and take the leap of faith needed to enter into the life your offer us so freely. Move us, Lord God. Amen. |
