Redeemer Devotions for October 1, 2014

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as uncovering lies. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as uncovering lies starts with the word that tells us about our God who - as it notes in Genesis chapter 1 - looks at creation and humanity and says, "Whew, that's good - very good." Right there, all other words are secondary. They are filled with conditions and bias and prejudice and lies about how we are seen by God. The Reign of God as uncovering lies gives us the base line or the foundation from which we begin the day. When this is the lens through which we see all things, it may become quite easy to discern when and where lies bubble up to grasp us and try to lead us. The Reign of God as uncovering lies does all the uncovering simply be being a reality alongside the ways of the world. It is endless good news. It is good news into which we are invited to be a part. It is good news that becomes us. It is the life God offers us within the breath of life that moves us out into this day. Therefore, we are invited to be a part of the life that uncovers lies simply by living contrary to the prevailing lies of the day. Wow. The Reign of God as uncovering lies - is at hand.

O God of love and new life, keep us refreshed by your grace so that the steps within this day will ignite our hearts and draw out of us the life that you call 'good - very good.'  Amen.
