The Reign of God as another question. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com . The Reign of God as another question could be that which draws my whole life into question. It is like the words of the great Prophets. Their images of what was and their images of what was to be cause us to wonder about how we are a part of the pictures they draw us. Even modern day poets and prophets have a way of saying that which we do not want to hear - truthfulness set plainly in front of us - truthfulness that creates questions about the way we are living and all the stuff that gets in the way of the life that is available to us. The Reign of God as another question breaks into our day to make us turn and listen. We are not simply listening to directions as to which way we are to go. We are listening to how our present path and way of life is being placed alongside the invitation to enter the life of God's Reign. That invitation creates moments of contemplation as we entertain those questions that reveal the difference between the life we are set on creating for ourselves and the life we are invited to enter. We then may begin to wonder about life beyond our own and maybe even wander onto another path to walk within this day. Such questions can really mess with the day as we have planned it. O God of love and new life, lead us into this day and guide us as we face the questions that arise among us and also invite us into the newness of your Reign. Amen. |
