Redeemer Devotions for October 16, 2014

Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as staying grounded. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as staying grounded provides us with a place and a time to breathe. When we are able to breathe, we are more likely to take part in the gift of the Holy Spirit. When we are taken up by that gift, we begin to have eyes for a life that looks like the life of the one some of us call the Christ, Jesus. When we have eyes for that life, it becomes a life into which we can begin to live. It is not a fantasy. It is not a pipe-dream. It is not out of reach. In fact it is at hand. The Reign of God as staying grounded gives us the launching pad from which we will move out into this day when the breath of God takes hold of us and fills us with a life that is as real as the moment at hand. It is in this moment that we are  grounded and are being encouraged to stay upon that ground even when there are all sorts of other promises being handed to us. The Reign of God as staying grounded will produce a life among us that may not reflect the culture or society around us - but it will reflect the image in which we are all made.

O God of love and new life, be the firm foundation that sends us out to greet the world today. Amen.
