Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as another question. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as another question may shake us up. It is like a parable that turns the tables on us and makes us consider something other. The other may be another way to live or another way to look at how our lives have been going up to this point in time. The Reign of God as another question is always helping us clarify how the living presence of God's Reign has been or will be carving out the character of our lives. When questions are used to clarify, there is nothing to fear. The question is being used to engage our hearts and minds and lives so that we can see how the Reign of God is or is not the place and time in which we are living. The Reign of God as another question may simply move us to consider why we did this rather than that. Looking a bit more closely at even the most simple acts of our lives may reveal that which is feeding our lives. Is it the bread of heaven or is it another treat to which we have turned our heads? Another question may be how we are invited to change how we interact with those around us - with our enemies - with those we fear. We may not like how we answer the questions - we may avoid addressing the questions - we may simply lie - we may find ourselves weeping - we may experience transformation.

O God of love and new life, shake us up even as we want to be settled in our ways and walk without questioning who we follow. Amen.
