Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as staying grounded. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as staying grounded is as though the Reign of God makes up the day. Rather than looking off to another place and time it is a reality breaking into our space and our time - ordinary life. As this is the case, we are then invited to take on the character of God' peaceable Reign and incorporate it into the everyday, mundane stuff through which we plod each day. The Reign of God as staying grounded keeps us in our own shoes and in our own lives and in the midst of the same old, same old of our lives. It is right here that that Reign of God becomes available and understandable. It is no longer some sort of dream world or 'long-shot'. It is all about embodiment. It is grounded in my life and your life and the community that learns to lean in together to sort through the character of life into which God invites the whole bunch of us. So this grounding is also a grounding within the midst of other people - the Reign of God is not the goal of an isolated journey of one person into a 'higher' understanding or another place. Grounded in the life of a community is vital simply because others are invited to help one another keep this Reigning presence grounded and available - for all.

O God of love and new life, anchor us within your Reigning presence. Amen.
