Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as another question. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as another question creates an environment when we may expand our notion of that which is and that which may become. It is though we have been pushed beyond our comfort zone or our known zone and will begin to see more of the reality around us that we will need to add to the created order around us. Usually, we do have a created order around us. Most often it is an order created by each of us - an order that fits us - an order that we have decided is the way life is to be. The Reign of God as another question may appear to be threatening to us when we already have this created order we have spent our lives creating. Another question invites us to consider more than that which we have in place. That is not a comfortable place to be. The Reign of God as another question is the beginning of the end of warfare. Let me explain. When my created order is set and in place and you have another  created order in which you are set, if we are unwilling to entertain questions about that which we see as being the way life is to be ordered, folks will start throwing stone - or spears - or bombs - or spaying mace. Engaging in another question may be the moment that open hearts and minds to another way to be together with others.

O God of love and new life, help us to entertain the questions that will begin to take us on the pathway of peace and new creation.  Amen.
