Adventures... in Hope - Redeemer Devotions

The Reign of God as uncovering lies. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com .

The Reign of God as uncovering lies is always at work - always present for us - always inspiring us to step on board and live within its domain. Many of the lies of the day are the stories we tell ourselves and the stories onto which we cling in order to keep things just as they are. The Reign of God as uncovering lies comes right out and lets us know that things will not be the same as they have always been. In fact, why should we live with lies that divide people and make excuses for violence and call for allegiances that do nothing at all for the well-being of all. The Reign of God as uncovering lies is the power to side with those who are being bitten by and beaten by and broken by the structures and beliefs of the day that are accepted as normal. The normal we know in the world is exactly why we are invited to be followers of Jesus. There is another way to move through the day and our life together. As we move along the way, we must listen to the lies swirling around us and uncover them for everyone to see - even if it is in the form of a parable. That seemed to be one way Jesus did it.

O God of love and new life, align us with your Reign of peace that sees your image in all people.  Amen.
