The Reign of God as another question. If you have any comments - adebelak@redeemerluth.com . The Reign of God as another question means that there is something more coming. Another question means another response or maybe even another conversation. That involves more time. In that time, we may be taken to a place we did not anticipate. We may even be handed a lens through which we will be able to see the day at hand with what may seem to be new eyes. The Reign of God as another question may be the last thing we want in our lives. But then, midway through the engagement with the question, our world is not exactly as it has been. We can never be sure what will change or who will change or when the change will arrive - but it comes as we take up the question and take on the trip that questions often take hand us. The Reign of God as another question is not looking for an answer. It has much more to do with how we engage one another as the question rises among us. In those questions, we will hear the fears and anxieties circling in the air around us. In those questions we will face the power of love that is able to move through those fears and anxieties. That doesn't mean we will no longer fear or be anxious. Rather we will have some notion as to how we might face those times. Through another question, we may hear a word that helps us face the next bit of troubled waters. O God of love and new life, bring us into whatever is next and empower us to live there until we are invited to move on into new life again. Amen. |
